Cassandra Jackson is a product of the DC Public Schools and Prince Georges County Public Schools’ educational systems. A graduate of McKinley Technology High School, Mrs. Jackson pursued further studies at Prince George’s Community College.

Over a prosperous professional career that spanned thirty years, she served in various capacities in the medical field and public transit, focusing on management, communications, occupational safety, and training.

Aware of her reading deficiency, she was inspired to start a book club for people with reading and comprehension challenges. This book club serves as an enrichment opportunity for others and herself.

In 2015 she had the vision to help others overcome learning deficiencies caused by lacking essential reading and technical skills. In 2020, she discussed her idea and aspirations with her aunt, Elizabeth Ann Davis, who was very supportive and encouraged her to pursue her dream. That year, she became her mentor every Friday while taking time off from her role as president of the Washington Teachers’ Union.

After she died in 2021, the natural decision was to create and name this foundation in honor of a woman who had dedicated her entire life to education, social justice, and advocacy for others. I retired that same year and received an official senatorial citation from the Maryland General Assembly for serving the community, church, and family through education and addressing domestic abuse, violence, and sexual harassment.
